Eid Clothing: When Children’s Joy Returns

Alaa Abu Ramadan, a volunteer in the Youth Councils, initially thought that participating in the “Eid Clothing” initiative would simply be another volunteer activity, similar to many others organized to support the community.

But the moment she saw the children’s faces light up with joy as they received their new Eid clothes, her perspective changed completely.

She saw a mixture of surprise and happiness in their eyes and realized that what might seem like something simple to a volunteer could carry a much deeper meaning for a child.

“I thought I wouldn’t have new clothes for Eid”

During the initiative, Alaa heard one of the children say:

“I thought I wouldn’t have new clothes for Eid because of the war, but now there will be an Eid, and I will have new clothes.”

The child’s words were simple and spontaneous, but they deeply touched Alaa.

For him, the Eid clothing was not simply a new outfit. It meant that Eid would still come, and that he would have the chance to experience a moment of happiness like other children, despite the difficult circumstances brought by the war.

Alaa says that this moment made her realize that she was not simply taking part in “an ordinary event.” She was contributing, even in a small way, to bringing a sense of joy back into a child’s life.

Moments That Stay in the Memory

What stayed with Alaa most after the initiative were the children’s expressions and words.

Whenever she remembers their surprise and happiness, she feels overwhelmed with joy and realizes that the true impact of volunteering is not measured only by what is provided, but also by the feelings it creates in people’s lives.

For her, the children’s smiles were a powerful reminder that humanitarian initiatives can give children moments of happiness and hope, even when they are surrounded by difficult circumstances.

Bringing Comfort Through Simple Gestures

Alaa’s volunteering experience did not stop with the children’s Eid clothing. She also participated in an initiative providing clothing for newborns.

This initiative had a special meaning for her, as she felt happy to contribute to bringing comfort and support to displaced families who had lost so much because of the difficult circumstances.

The experience made Alaa realize that people can find happiness in the simplest things, and that something that may seem small to one person can mean a great deal to a family going through extraordinary hardship.

Volunteering: Creating Moments of Hope

For Alaa, volunteering has become more than simply participating in an activity. It has become an opportunity to witness the direct human impact of young people’s efforts.

The Eid clothing was not simply clothing, and the newborn clothing was not simply a basic need. They were messages of care, moments of joy, and small opportunities to restore hope.

Alaa believes that volunteering gives young people a meaningful opportunity to contribute to positive change, and that simple initiatives can create a lasting impact when they reach people who need them most.

An Impact That Remains

Today, Alaa carries with her the memories of those children—their faces, smiles, and words—as a reminder that generosity, no matter how simple, can make a real difference.

In difficult circumstances, a new outfit for a child can be more than just clothing; it can be a moment of joy, a feeling of being cared for, and a small window of hope.
